Medical Project Ceremony Phayao – At Phayao City Hall on Thursday, February 28 Education for Life(ELF) hosted Rotarians from Bangkok and Japan to commemorate the medical project in which the Rotary donated medical supplies to 31 Phayao schools. ELF gave the Rotary gifts to remember their trip. In addition to the tri-lingual ceremony (Japanese, Thai and English), the Rotary gave the students and teachers lots of school supplies and the children gave the Rotarians locally made crafts and gifts. Gifts for everyone! |

Sight for Students 2009 |
Nonprofit Partnership brings Eye Clinic to Phayao Students PHAYAO – Education for Life facilitated the Sight for Students event at Phayao City Hall on Friday, November 27 in partnership with several other organizations. The eyeglasses were donated by Japan's Rotary Club and sent to Phayao for distribution by Wankaew specialists. Around 600 students and teachers joined us for a free eye test and, if necessary, a free pair of glasses. Many thanks to our partners the Sai Jai Thai Foundation, Rotary Japan, EGAT and especially Wankaew who helped our students to see everything clearer |

Education for Life Aims to Change the World through Helping to Educate Girls Thai education foundation awards scholarships to 160 impoverished, at-risk students in Phayao Province PHAYAO — Education for Life (ELF) hosted its annual scholarship ceremony for students on August 26, 2009 at Phayao City Hall. With more than 160 students and their teachers gathered together, the ceremony highlighted the commitment these students were making to excel in school with the help of ELF’s funds and supplemental educational programs. After traditional Thai dances from scholarship recipients, ELF founder Michael Naruenartwanich and the Phayao vice governor briefly spoke about the importance of development projects in the province, and how scholarships are an important investment in the future. This year, ELF began a new scholarship program for young students with HIV, and another for high school girls. In all, ELF gave out 160 scholarships and continues to support 197 students from years past, totaling 357 students in their programs. The scholarships are typically spent on items that help children attend school like shoes, books and transportation. |

Cut-a-Thon Charity [25 July 09] |
Fight Trafficking at the Education for Life Cut-a-Thon Paul Mitchell stylists team up with Thai education foundation to raise money for impoverished, at-risk students in rural Phayao Province BANGKOK — Education for Life (ELF) and Paul Mitchell hosted a “Cut-A-Thon” charity event at on Saturday, July 25 on the 6th floor of the Central City Bangna shopping mall. Paul Mitchell stylists cut and styled hair in exchange for donations to the foundation, which empowered impoverished children in Phayao Province to stay in school and build better futures for themselves and their families. There were many people and sponsors in the event: Paul Mitchell, iHealti, Guy Laroche, Pivot Point, Central Pattana, all our celebrity guests and volunteers, the ELF Cut-a-thon was a huge success! We had such a great turnout there was a long line. Our stylists worked so hard and worked without breaks! We did an interview with Thai ASTV, made lots of new friends and everyone looked great with their new cuts. |

Eyeglasses Project Partnership |
Eye glasses Project Partnership ELF is pleased to announce a new project - Eyeglasses for Phayao. The Thai Rotary donated eyeglasses on behalf of the Japanese Rotary Club to our organization in a ceremony on 16 th June 2009. The ceremony began at 2 PM at the Privy Councill's Office. Air Vice Marshal Kamthon Sindhvananda, Privy Councillor, was tha representative for the Sai Jai Thai foundation to receive the eyeglasses from thai Rotary on behalf of the Japanese Rotary Club. Wankaew Project as well as EGAT(Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand) were presen as well to help act as distributors and medical professionals for the project. We are so excited to be a part of this partnership to bring eyeglasses and treatment to people in Phayao. ELF thank you and also Rotary Japan and Thailand who made this possible. Thir kind support will help many poor pepole build a better life. |

Graduation Party In March 2009, ELF held its first annual graduation party for girls completing grade 9. The day of workshops, talks and games focused on careers and allowed the girls to get hands-on practice with skills needed for jobs like nursing, hairdressingandjewelry making. |

MTV Exit As a trafficking-prevention partner, ELF joined MTV Exit and the United Nations for a night of music and awareness building at Siam Paragon on December 12, 2008. The night included a concert highlighting the problems of trafficking in the Southeast Asian region as well as promotion ELF as a prevention organization
